Concrete Trowel

POWER CONCRETE TROWEL

FAILURE TO FOLLOW SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS MAY LEAD TO INJURY OR DEATH

  1. Keep children/bystanders clear of work area.
  2. Keep clear of rotating parts when operating.
  3. ALWAYS have throttle position at IDLE when starting the machine. DO NOT place your foot on or inside the guard ring when starting.
  4. Be careful when working around pipes and edges. Blades can catch on pipes, forms, etc., causing damage or operator injury. (Hand trowel these areas)
  5. These are heavy machines, get help when movung around.
  6. This unit is equipped with a safety switch, that will stop the machine if you have to let go of the handle and the machine is rotating. AFTER THE SWITCH HAS TRIPPED IT MAY BE POSSIBLE FOR THE HANDLE TO CONTINUE TO ROTATE SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE STOPPING. DO NOT TRY TO CATCH THE HANDLE AS IT SWINGS AROUND.
  7. NEVER LEAVE UNATTENDED WHILE THE MACHINE IS RUNNING. NEVER OPERATE WITH THE BELT GUARD REMOVED.
  8. NEVER fuel with the engine running or when it is hot. Hot muffler/engine parts can ignite spilled fuel or cause explosion.
  9. ALWAYS START THE MACHINE WITH THE BLADE PITCH IN THE FLAT POSITION AND ADJUST FROM THERE.
  10. Never allow concrete to harden on the machine.

OPERATION:

  1. At the operator end of the handle there is a red stop switch. This will stop the engine if the handle is released. To stop the engine you can manually push the lever down to the stop position. Don't operate the machine if this switch is not working.
  2. The throttle is located on the right side of the handle. When the lever is pushed away from you, this will DECREASE THE SPEED. THE IDLE POSITION IS ALL THE WAY AWAY FROM THE OPERATOR.
  3. On the QUICK PITCH HANDLE you adjust the pitch of the blades by squeezing the Latching Dog Lever to the "T" Handle. By moving the handle TOWARDS you, it will increase the pitch of the blades. Each time you reset the blades, make sure that the Latching Dog is FULLY engaged to prevent accidental damage or injury.
  4. FLOATING OPERATION: When the concrete has sufficently set (firm enough so that the operator's footprint leaves a slight depression) you may begin the Floating operation. It is recommended that a slight tension on the pitch control be used, but not a definite tilt to the blades. Be sure to get help lifting the machine onto the concrete. Trowel only until a smooth, flat surface is obtained. Excessive troweling will damage the surface. After the floated surface has set you may begin the finish procedure.
  5. FINISHING OPERATION: When starting to finish NEVER set the blades up over 1/4"> This is important. By holding the handle level the machine will stay in one spot. A slight DOWNWARD pressure and it will move RIGHT. Tilt UPto move LEFT. A slight twist to the RIGHT will move the machine FORWARD and a twist to the LEFT will move it BACKWARD. You may have to make several passes over the slab, according to the desired finish.

NOTE: As a rule the greater the pitch of the blades, the smoother the finish, however, excessive blade pitch will cause the blades to wear rapidly.
