DO NOT TRANSPORT OXY OUTFITS WITHOUT REMOVING REGULATORS AND INSTALLING PROTECTOR CAPS

EQUIPMENT SETUP

  1. Chain or strap oxygen and acetylene gas cylinders together in an upright position -- MAKE SURE THEY ARE FIRMLY SECURED SO THEY WILL NOT FALL.
  2. Unscrew and remove valve protector caps and slightly open valves to blow out dirt or other foreign material.
  3. Before connecting regulators, be sure the regulators are clean, handles turn easily and make sure valves are screwed OUT (off positions), Connect regulators and tighten regulator nuts firmly.
  4. Attach welding hoses to regulators and torch (red hose is Acetylene and green is Oxygen).
  5. Screw on welding tip or cutting attachment as needed. HANDTIGHTEN ONLY as excessive force will damage seals.
  6. Open oxygen gas cylinder slowly. If it cannot be opened by hand return for replacement.
  7. Open acetylene gas cylinder a MAXIMUM of 1/2 TURNS.
  8. After work is completed, SHUT OFF GAS SUPPLIES AT CYLINDER PROTECTOR CAPS.

OPERATION

For approximate working pressure, adjust regulators to a 4 to 1 ratio:

Example: Oxygen = 20 pounds, Acetylene = 5 pounds
Or for heavier work: Oxygen = 40 pounds, Acetylene = 10 pounds

WELDING APPLICATIONS

Open torch acetylene valve about 1/2 turn and ignite. ALWAYS IGNITE TORCH WITH TIP AIMED AWAY from persons, gas cylinders or any flammable materials.

A. Open torch acetylene valve until flame leaves end of the tip about 1/8”, then reduce slightly to bring flame just back to tip.
B. Open torch oxygen valve until a blue cone appears, adjust until the feathery edges of the blue cone just barely disappear.

CUTTING APPLICATIONS:

Screw on cutting attachment
